Services

I work in three different areas. All three are marked by uncertainty, and that calls for someone who makes choices: choices that get the work moving and give it direction.

Interim and general management

For a programme that's stuck, hasn't started yet, or no longer fits alongside the day job.

Programme and project leadership

I take over a complex programme and finish it. The leadership team gets a plan it understands on first reading, and every week you see where things stand.

Setting up new units

Setting up a new department, function or organisation. I start with a brief and a mandate, and I don't stop until a working version is in place. Then I hand it over to you, so you can carry on without me.

Turnaround and change

Getting a stalled organisation or product moving again. First I work out what's really going wrong. Then we make choices (sometimes hard ones) and carry them out.

Experience

  • ENC SecurityGeneral manager. Turnaround, more than 150,000 licences, and the sale of the core software to Western Digital.

Startups and scale-ups

For founders who want to build with someone who has co-founded companies and co-led the sell side of an acquisition.

Fractional COO

Operational leadership without hiring a full-time COO straight away. I get processes, the team, delivery and the financial basics in order, so you can focus on product and customers.

From idea to product and market

From an idea that works to a product with its first paying customers. What do you build first, what do you leave for later, and who is going to pay for it?

Investment and exit readiness

Governance, security and privacy in order before due diligence starts. I've sat on the sell side of an acquisition. I know which questions a buyer asks and which answers hold up a deal.

Sounding board or advisory board

A regular sounding board for founders, or a seat on the advisory board. Someone who thinks things through with you and also tells you what you'd rather not hear.

Experience

  • Hello 24/7Head of Operations & Technology from day one; in practice COO and CTO in one.
  • ENC SecurityGeneral manager. Turnaround, more than 150,000 licences, and the sale of the core software to Western Digital.
  • OneSpace SecurityCo-founder and CEO.

Security and privacy

For organisations that have to show a regulator or their customers that they protect information and personal data properly. I've worked in the field as an inspector myself. I know how a regulator looks at an organisation.

ISO 27001, BIO and NIS2

Baseline, priorities and implementation, all the way to certification or formal accountability. I start with the question of who signs off on what. The rest follows from that.

Privacy and GDPR

Records of processing activities, DPIAs and data processing agreements. I set it up so that it works day to day.

Awareness and behaviour

A programme that changes how employees behave, even in a large organisation.

Experience

  • Netherlands Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority (NVWA)Enforcement officer / inspector under the Dutch Tobacco and Smoking Products Act, operational fieldwork.
  • B&S GroupPrepared the organisation for ISO 27001 certification and rolled out an awareness programme for 1,200 employees. Delivered reports to IT management and at times to the executive team.
  • BDO AdvisoryManager Cybersecurity & Privacy.
  • Dutch Police (employee)Community police officer with the rank of sergeant. Since 2019 also a cyberspecial (cybercrime volunteer).
  • CertificatesISO 27001 Lead Implementer and IT-Security Foundation.

What it costs

That depends on time commitment, duration, role and scope. After a first conversation you'll know what I would do and what it would cost.
