Alex Vermunt

I lead and build organisations, and I know security and privacy from the inside.

I've co-founded and led companies. As an adviser and as an inspector I've examined other people's organisations. I bring that combination to every engagement.

Arcturus Advisory is my sole proprietorship. So you always work with me, and nobody else.

This is where my work for startups and scale-ups comes from. What I advise founders to do, I've had to do myself.

Security, privacy and oversight

  • BDO AdvisoryManager Cybersecurity & Privacy.
  • B&S GroupPrepared the organisation for ISO 27001 certification and rolled out an awareness programme for 1,200 employees. Delivered reports to IT management and at times to the executive team.
  • Netherlands Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority (NVWA)Enforcement officer / inspector under the Dutch Tobacco and Smoking Products Act, operational fieldwork.
  • Cyber­weerbaarheids­centrum Brainport (cyber resilience centre)Community manager.

I've assessed others as an adviser and as an inspector, and as an entrepreneur I've sat on the other side myself. So I know which questions an auditor or regulator asks, and which answers hold up.
